Rich Thau is the president and founder of Presentation Testing, Inc., the industry leader in scientifically testing and refining the effectiveness of business and issue-advocacy messages. The firm helps its clients become more successful by applying the power of behavioral science and social psychology to the process of dial testing and in-depth interviewing.
Thau has spearheaded groundbreaking research in public policy, financial communications, insurance, trial consulting, and infomercials. His clients range from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Business Roundtable to CNN and NBC.
Thau regularly advises leaders in Congress and their staffs, Presidential campaigns, and corporate executives on how to improve their messaging; his recommendations have shaped the national debates over Social Security, Medicare, tax reform, and a host of other issues. He is regularly invited to share findings with Members at meetings hosted by the House Republican Conference. For 11 straight years, Thau attended every House GOP Member retreat, and was a featured speaker at almost all of them.
Thau is a member of the Qualitative Research Consultants Association and sits on the advisory board for the ClearPath Foundation.
He is a 1987 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Haverford College, where he received a B.A. in History (with honors).
Prior to co-founding the Generation X think tank Third Millennium in 1993, Thau was a senior editor at MagazineWeek, the trade magazine for the magazine industry.
Raised in Roslyn, NY, Thau lives in suburban Philadelphia with his wife, Nicole Tell, Esq., and their son Ezra.
Cindy Ng is director of operations at Presentation Testing, where she is responsible for all company administration and logistics. In addition she manages the technical aspects of dial testing; gathers and analyzes dial-test data; creates and edits video footage; and manages logistics for focus groups.
Ng received a B.A. from New York University in 1998, where she double-majored in economics and politics, with a minor in Chinese language. She previously was director of operations at Third Millennium.
Matt Steffee is a senior public policy analyst at Presentation Testing. He is responsible for research, script-writing, data-gathering and analysis, report writing, and moderating focus groups. In addition, he provides technological skills for dial testing, as well as managing logistics for focus groups.
Steffee earned a B.A. from New York University in 2009, where he double-majored in politics and journalism, with a minor in media, culture and communication. He previously was a staff assistant of constituent services for Congressman Chris Smith (NJ-4)
